Reflecting a stain on American history and a literal stain through a particular process of making, Blot is an animated, experimental documentary as momento mori re: the events at the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021. Using the “ink blot” technique to create abstract Rorschach prints with watercolor over Xeroxed periodical headlines and images, Blot seeks to both remind viewers of the fragility of democracy, divisive political tension through the folded paper and the subsequent bifurcating interpretation of how we “see” the event in a “post-truth” America.
